Pro-Life champion Joe Scheidler was the recipient of the St. John Paul II Leadership Award presented to him at a gala dinner during the recent Catholic Marketing Trade Show in Chicago, IL. The Award was given to Joe by Tom Brejcha, Founder of the Thomas More law firm, with several members of Joe’s family in attendance.
Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Fr. Frank Pavone, Founder of Priests for Life, who has worked side-by-side with Joe over the past few decades on a myriad of pro-life causes and activities. Comments on Joe’s nearly 45 years of pro-life activism were made by Fr. Pavone, Conor Gallagher, the publisher of the recently released book on Joe’s life Racketeer for Life, and Tom Brejcha, who represented Joe in his battle for justice that took them all the way to the Supreme Court.
“I can’t think of a person worthier of receiving our inaugural award,” commented Alan Napleton, President of the Catholic Marketing Network. “Joe’s heroic leadership in the fight to protect life is an inspiration to everyone involved in this important battle!” Joe addressed the gathering with comments on his career and encouraged all to “stand up for life” through prayer and activism.
“I will hang the St. John Paul II Leadership Award on the wall next to an Apostolic Blessing I received from John Paul II,” said Scheidler. “I am so honored to have spoken to a Saint, and to have received your inaugural Leadership Award named for our beloved Pontiff.”
