New Documentary “Mully” Tells Incredible True Story – Bringing to Life the Gospel Message of Love – In Theaters This Week

A powerful new documentary MULLY will air in theaters exclusively on October 3, 4 and 5 in the United States and Canada.  Directed by Scott Haze, MULLY tells the true story of the Kenyan orphan Dr. Charles Mully whose rise to fortune was a miracle, only then to hear from God to give it all away to rescue thousands of street children in Kenya.  Mully wandered the streets for years until a Catholic family took him in when he was a teenager. Mully was given a job cutting the grass and learned the dignity of work. He eventually married, had eight children, and during this process amassed great wealth in transportation and real estate. He tried to forget his past, but God asked Charles and his wife to do something radical: to give everything away in order to save orphaned children.

Here’s what Catholic leaders are saying about MULLY:

“MULLY is the kind of movie that immediately makes you ask yourself, “How is God calling me to venture out of my comfort zone to be a part of changing our world?” This beautifully produced documentary shares the gripping story of one man’s rise from Kenyan street orphan to successful business mogul to one who is willing to give all his material wealth away to help the poorest of the poor. We meet Charles Mully through the eyes of his own wife and biological children, who had to overcome their own fears and hesitancies to understand their father’s quest. We meet him through the eyes of his beloved street children, for whom the Mullys became a true family. We meet Mully through his visionary approach to solving critical societal crises. And we meet Charles through his faith, poured into concrete action and a conviction that every child is a child of God, deserving of dignity, life, education, and love. I can’t wait to learn more about Mully Children’s Family and to learn more about supporting the work they are doing in Kenya.”

This film of the true-life story of a man who had nothing in this world, achieves success, and then gives all to save others in whom he sees his younger self is such a gift to everyone who has the distinct pleasure of seeing the movie.  Truly, this man models the Gospel message in an extraordinary way and makes clear that one person can make an immense difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters on this earth.  His gifts of compassion and love are beacons of hope in a world that can be so dark.  His spirit and his deeds define and illumine the ideal of brotherhood and teach a lesson that one can never forget.  The National Council of Catholic Women is very proud to endorse this beautiful film that enlightens and inspires so powerfully.” ~Maribeth Stewart, National Council of Catholic Women, President
