James (Jim) Gilboy, Founder of CMJ Publishing Has Died

The Catholic Marketing Network lost a dear friend and long-time supporter with the passing of James (Jim) W. Gilboy when he lost his battle with cancer and went to the Lord the morning of Wednesday, May 17th. “Jim was a close friend and someone that greatly edified me in my faith,” said CMN President Alan Napleton. “He was a man of prayer with a special devotion to Our Eucharistic Lord and we often talked about this wonderful mystery and what it meant to him.”

Many of the CMN family will remember Jim from his efforts with CMJ Marian Publishing, an entity that he established in 1995 with his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen. Together the couple raised 6 children with 20 grandchildren. CMJ Publishing was a response to Pope Saint John Paul II’s call for a New Evangelization and featured many titles dedicated to Our Blessed Mother for whom Jim had a great love.

“I was fortunate to speak to Jim just a few weeks before his passing and, as always, he was filled with joy and optimism,” commented Napleton. “Although CMJ Publishing had the usual struggles that go along with any Catholic business/ministry, I never heard Jim to speak ill of anyone or to complain or be pessimistic in any way. He was certainly a sterling example of the joy that should accompany our faith.”

Jim was laid to rest on Monday May 22nd after his funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church in Oak Lawn, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Faith and Family Foundation, 15158 Berlin Turnpike, Purcellville, VA 20132.
