Through a new initiative titled Ave Explores, Ave Maria Press is taking an in-depth look at the Synod on Young People, the Faith, and Vocational Discernment, which began October 3, 2018, in Rome. A group of experts, including two who will be lay participants at the Vatican meetings, will be led by Catholic author and speaker Katie Prejean McGrady.
These experts will provide insight, ideas, and resources to help unpack what’s going on during—and after—the synod. Videos, photos, articles, resource guides, and commentary will help readers understand the synod and its effects on the Church—especially for those in the fields of youth and young adult ministry, catechesis, and education—as well as parents and families.
“The synod is critically important for our Church, coming at a time when we absolutely need to concentrate on how we communicate the truth of Catholicism to youth and young adults,” said McGrady, who was one of three people selected by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to participate in a pre-synod meeting last March. “We want to unpack the news and documents coming out of this Synod with a specific focus on how this affects ministry in schools, parishes, on college campuses, and dioceses.”
