Nestled in a quiet neighborhood in south Dallas, St. Joseph's Residence has served vulnerable seniors since 1955 as a ministry of the Bethlemite Sisters and the Diocese of Dallas. We combine attentive daily care with a genuine community life, a home where residents are a name and a story, not a room number.

St. Joseph's Residence began when Bishop Thomas Gorman of the Diocese of Dallas sought to create a facility for elderly individuals. After learning about the Bethlemite Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus from a contact in Panama, he invited them to Dallas to develop this ministry.

St. Joseph's Residence opened its doors on January 23, 1955, with four Sisters and seven residents. The Bethlemite Sisters have provided staffing since inception. The Diocese purchased the property at 330 W. Pembroke Avenue and funded the initial construction, which was later repaid. A new wing was added in 2011.
